I live in the Richmond and pass this shop almost everyday. You can't bring me past it without my window shopping and straying toward the door. I rate this shop a positively posh from the past 10. Great selections and prices.

Most fun, interesting Store
This store was just on TV Evening Magazine with good reason. Phyllis, the owner has the largest collection of Limoges Boxes in the World. She founded the store in 1976 and has earned the respect of the community. Not only does she want to please her customers and find them what they are looking for, she also has been a volunteer fitness instructor at the YMCA for 20 years. She told me her goal in life was to help people and make them happy. I have been shopping here for 22 years. There is no reason to shop anywhere else because I always find what I want at Gaslight & Shadows. She also will give you advice on how to loose weight or exercises to tone your body.

Gaslight & Shadows on TV
I found Gaslight & Shadows because they were recently on TV Evening Magazine for having the largest collection of Limoges Boxes in the World, a very large collection of Bakelite, Fenton Glass, winning the contest on City Search, and having a packed store with everything you can imagine. I had to drive from the East Bay to go there but boy, was it worth the drive. It is the most fun, interesting, wonderful store in all of San Francisco! I can't believe how many beautiful items are in this store. Phyllis is the nicest person. She is very kind, generous, knowlegable, fun and a delight to talk to. I can't wait until my next visit.

Beautiful Fenton Art Glass and more.
Gaslight & Shadows is the only Fenton Art Glass Showcase dealer in San Francisco. I love to go there and see what new pieces have come in. Phyllis, the owner has a passion for beautiful things. Her love of her store shows. She loves to show you the merchandise. My husband buys me great vintage jewelry there and I buy Fenton glass. This store is so packed with wonderful things to look at and everything is so beautifuly displayed. I love this store and Phyllis too. I have been shopping here for 25 years. It is a happy, super fun shop.

It's an experience!
I just bought a beautiful antique teacup at Gaslight & Shadows. Owner Phyllis Nabhan is so friendly, enthusiastic, helpful and best of all quirky (note the belly dancing snapshots on her desk!) that I would have to categorize Gaslight & Shadows as one of those rare Bay Area retail treasures where you find yourself going for the education and the experience as much as for the gorgeous merchandise.

Not Just The Best Limoges Boxes, Great ...
Not only does Phyllis carry what may arguably be the U.S.'s largest collection of Limoges boxes, she also has a fabulous, reasonably priced collection of Bakelite bracelets, napkin rings, and other items. Also in abundance are a large variety of jade pieces. This shop is perfect for finding that special someone a special gift!

Entering the store, one becomes drawn into it with a welcoming familiarity of family during a festive occasion. Which makes leaving the store very difficult. I have returned many times just to browse for hours on end and still haven't seen all there is to see. Listening to Phyllis, the owner and founder, makes a trip there even more enjoyable. She has lived all over the world and experienced much, so converstations with her are educational, exciting and fun. She loves to chat like everyone is an old friend. It's full of exotic, eclectic, rare, and precious curios and 'nic nacs'. Pyllis has a degree in art so she makes all the displays aesthetically pleasing rather than cluttered. Her store is never intimidating or overwhelms the senses but instead creates an atmosphere of amusement, curiosity and interest. I look forward to returning!

It's like a trip around the world
Gaslight is like a trip to an art gallery or museum and with Phyllis as your tour guide, what an experience! She is so enthusiastic and knowledgeable, you could easily lose track of time and spend all day there enjoying her company. And just as enjoyable is the vast collection of treasures from around the world. Every inch of the store is covered with items from around the globe, from all decades. Most antique shops specialize in only one particular era or goods however Gaslight is the only antique shop I have seen that does not discriminate. She has items from literally every country. The store has rarities even the most avid collectors wouldn't know existed until visiting there. If Phyllis doesn't have it, she will know where to get it. Gaslight is my favorite place to shop. So take a trip out to see for yourself!

Love pays attention to detail
I've learned that love pays attention to detail. And how appropriate that Phyllis would specialize in Limoges boxes. These boxes are created with the attention to detail that only comes with love. And I found that Phyllis also gives attention to detail with her customers. I hadn't heard of Limoges boxes before. However, Phyllis explained the process invovled in making these boxes. I really found it fascinating to hear and see (she showed me pictures of the process ) how they are made. And I have a great appreciation and admiration for those boxes now. What a wonderful introduction to Limoges boxes I had! She also took the time to answer some questions I had about a figurine that I own, making sure I had the best information she had available. I really enjoyed my visit to Gaslight & Shadow Antiques.
